Tulsa Wildlife Removal Tip of the Month: WHAT IS A NATURAL DETERRENT FOR RACCOONS

You heard some continuous scratching noises at night; don't ignore. It might be some ants or any of the other animals. You should figure out which animal is roaming around your attic. Is it the furry animal excited to eat away your food secretly?

ONION AND PEPPER
Same as the peppers, raccoons do not like the smell of an onion as well. Therefore this repellent helps in keeping away the raccoons.

Take a large pot with half a gallon of water in it
Add two tablespoons of cayenne pepper
Then add chopped jalapeno and an onion
Heat the mixture until boil
Leave the mixture for twenty minutes
Remove the pepper and onion, then pour it into the spray bottle
Spray all the areas, where the raccoon’s attack. But respray it after two to three days as the smell dries out in the air.

AMMONIA
You can add up ammonia in water and spray it all over the yard and plants. One more thing can be done by putting ammonia in a bowl and place near the fireplace in the chimney.

EPSOM SALT
Epsom salt is a natural deterrent way for raccoons and a natural fertilizer for plants and vegetables as well. You can dust off the salt around the yard, on plants, herbs, and near the trash can.

VINEGAR
Pour some of the apple cider vinegar on kitchen shelves, near trash and yard. The pungent taste is no more appealing for raccoons, and they will never come again.

CONCLUSION
You wake up and see a roaming raccoon around, make you scared. You start finding ways to get rid of them, some are natural, and some are toxic or trapping.

The above were some natural repellent; one more way is to seal your attic, clean your trash can, and put away your pet food after feeding.
